Our Design Process

Collaborative Design
In late 2024 and early 2025, the My Voice, My Rights, My Way team conducted focus groups to inform the My Voice, My Rights, My Way project. We interviewed some of the participants to hear about their experience in the collaborative design process.
We are currently working with CoMHWA’s Aboriginal Lived Experience Advisory Group (ALEAG), and hosting monthly meetings with our Consumer Advisory Group (CRG) made up of Lived Experience consumers from communities across Western Australia.

CERIPH Self-Advocacy and Mental Health: A Rapid Review
CoMHWA also worked with Curtin University to commission a comprehensive literature review exploring the concept, value, and practice of self-advocacy in mental health care.
The review traces the origins of self-advocacy and discusses self-advocacy as both an individual and collective practice with a focus on the Australian context.
In the report, special considerations are given to priority groups such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, young people, and those living in rural areas.
All of this has helped us ensure that the My Voice project is accessible, inclusive and respectful to all Western Australians.
