The Listening Lounge

Free, weekly, mental health Peer support groups co-designed by people with lived experience for people with lived experience.

The Listening Lounge mental health peer support groups are a safe and supportive space where you can share your experiences, listen to and learn from others, and connect with friendly peers.
You can show up as you are – if you’ve had a rough week, there is no need to pretend otherwise. It’s ok to not be ok in this group. You can even turn up in your pyjamas if you like, get up, move around, sit on the floor, whatever makes you feel comfortable! The group follows a semi-flexible structure and is co-facilitated by two trained peer workers with lived experience themselves.
The Listening Lounge groups are:
• Free
• Weekly
• Ongoing
• Co-facilitated by trained peer facilitators with a lived experience themselves
• Come as frequently or infrequently as you like
Is this group for me?
The Listening Lounge Mental Health Peer Support groups are for:
• Adults (aged 18+) who are currently struggling with their mental health OR
• Who identify as having a lived experience of mental health challenges
Listening Lounge Peer Support Groups are designed to be safe and accepting places for everyone regardless of gender identity, sexuality, cultural or religious background, skin colour, disability or any other point of difference. We take an active approach to cultural safety and accessibility. Our Group Care Guidelines and Values are designed to ensure that our groups are safe and enjoyable for everyone.
What do we talk about in a group?
A Listening Lounge Peer Support group goes for 2 hours + an optional 30 minute tea and chat afterwards. It has a flexible structure that allows time for:
• Sharing a problem or issue that you may be struggling with
• Listening and learning from others
• Sharing wins/achievements
• Having a cup tea/coffee and chatting with fellow attendees after group
• A mental health discussion topic or activity
• Hearing about community events, supports, and services, plus much more.
Regular Listening Lounge Group times are listed below. Please be aware: The Listening Lounge DOES NOT run on Public Holidays.
