National Consumer Alliance Calls for a Peak Body for the Northern Territory
The National Mental Health Consumer Alliance (the “Alliance”) is made up from state and territory consumer, mental health peak bodies representing NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, the ACT and Tasmania. The Alliance meets regularly to share best practice across Australia to promote the rights and voice of mental health consumers.
The Alliance has made a submission to Northern Territory Health calling for the creation of a consumer peak body for the Territory as none currently exist. The submission details how the application of lived experience through a peak consumer body can improve decision-making, policy development, system design, and as a result improve consumer outcomes.
