Draft National Autism Strategy Focus Group
The Federal Government is seeking feedback on their newly released Draft National Autism Strategy and CoMHWA wants to make sure that our members are heard. The Department of Social Services has invited consumer feedback through a survey or email, however they have not created other opportunities for consultation, which means that people who find written responses difficult will miss out. We want to hear your ideas for how they can improve the National Autism Strategy, especially if you are an Autistic person, so we can represent your experiences when we make a submission at the end of May.
When: Wednesday, May 8th, 2-3.30pm
Where: CoMHWA Training Room 14
Other information: You will be reimbursed for your time at the rate of $37.50 for the focus group and an hour of travel time (2.5 hours total). Light afternoon tea is provided.
RSVP: please RSVP with your access needs, dietary requirements and whether you identify as an Autistic person to admin@comhwa.org.au. We will have 12 spaces available for this focus group. Priority will be given to Autistic people who apply.
If you would like to tell us your thoughts on the Draft National Autism Strategy but focus groups aren’t accessible for you, please reach out to Charles, one of our Policy and Research Officers, at cfoster@comhwa.org.au (or call 92588911) so we can organise another option for you.
This could include an interview either online, via phone or in person in a place that is comfortable for you, submissions of art or poetry, a written submission of your story or any other modes that work better for you.
