CoMHWA represented on the Mental Health, Wellbeing and Alcohol and Other Drugs Ministerial Advisory Panel

CoMHWA represented on the Mental Health, Wellbeing and Alcohol and Other Drugs Ministerial Advisory Panel

As an outcome following the Independent Review of Health System Governance (IGR) the Minister for Health; Mental, Amber-Jade Sanderson, announced the creation of a new Ministerial Advisory Panel (MAP).

We are pleased to advise that our CoMHWA CEO, Darren Munday, has been appointed to the MAP alongside other Lived Experience Leaders and sector representatives.

The purpose of the MAP is to bring together community sector and Lived Experience Leaders to:
• Provide high level strategic advice on strategic planning, policy and programs that relate to the community;
• Provide practical, achievable and solution focussed advice on issues related to the mental health and the alcohol and other drugs sectors;
• Assist the Minister in monitoring the implementation of strategic reform priorities;
• Provide practical and achievable advice to further engage the community in mental health and alcohol and other drugs services across the spectrum of prevention, early intervention, support and treatment;
• Contribute to consultations with the mental health and alcohol and other drugs sectors and other public sector agencies;
• Improve outcomes for individuals, families and the Western Australian community; and
• Undertake any other activities as requested by the Minister.

CoMHWA is pleased to have a seat at the table where we can speak directly to the Minister and sees this as another positive, albeit small step in amplifying, embedding, and prioritising the voice of Lived Experience in the WA Health and Mental Health systems.
