Lived Experience Forum Report Out Now: Sustainable Health Review
On 26th and 29th June 2018, ninety two people with lived experience contributed their views to the “Many Voices, Big Impact” forums, a joint initiative of WAAMH, CoMHWA, Carers Australia WA, Mental Health Matters 2, HelpingMinds, Health Consumers Council of WA.The forums gave people the opportunity to understand and raise their views about the Sustainable Health Review and its interim findings. The Lived Experience Report from the forums is now available, and has been provided to Robyn Kruk, who spearheads the Sustainable Health Review.As part of the forums, an analysis of the interim Sustainable Health Review Report was conducted, together with a guide to the Sustainable Health Review. The Lived Experience Report includes an analysis of the Interim Sustainable Health Review recommendations. The analysis found that mental health and the priorities of people with lived experience were still neglected and overlooked in many aspects of the recommendations.The Lived Experience Report calls for:
- Funding for all Ten Year Plan commitments
- Rebalancing investment towards more prevention and community support
- Culturally appropriate service coordination and navigation, peer support and stigma reduction initiatives;
- Greater availability of individual and systemic advocacy;
- Reforming for a culture of co-design, co-production and partnerships with lived experience
Thank you to everyone who shared their voices at these important events.
