Celebrating All of Me and All of You
On Thursday 5th December, CoMHWA held an event to celebrate International Day of People with Disability called "Celebrate All of Me".
The purpose of a Celebrate All of Me was to raise awareness that mental health is just as important as physical health and that positive mental health/ wellbeing messages were necessary and much needed for carers and people living with disabilities, particularly, physical and sensory and co-occurring conditions.
It also aimed to provide a greater awareness of the call from people with disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions for more holistic care options (for more information on this please see the Inclusion for Mental Health Project page).
Highlights from the day included:
Act Belong Commit presenting on conversations around mental health and wellbeing;
Sussex Street Community Law Service presenting on Equal Opportunity and Disability Discrimination Acts and Activities to gain a better understanding of the legislation;
Lived Experience Voices of 3 individuals who were talked about the activities and achievements that help keep them mentally healthy.
We had some great feedback from individuals who attended the day, with them noting the event was both informative and enjoyable, and gave them the chance to network with a variety of people and organisations.Stallholders who graciously gave up their time on the day included:
